Day 9 - Ullswater to Wyre

The best time to cycle up a mountain pass is straight after breakfast. That's what I told myself as we cycles towards the Keystone pass, a road that winds up to 400m, the highest point on our journey.

We both managed the pass without stopping. At the top I wanted to be sick, my body was racked with lactic acid from the climb. The view over  the rest of Lancashire was amazing.

We continued to have great weather. Mostly sunny with few clouds. We have had no rain in Cumbria, amazing!

We rode out of the lakes. We crossed the halfway point just outside the village of Holme in Cumbria. We were right next to the West Coast mainline when we took our halfway selfies, and got goosed by a couple of pendalinos.

We stopped for lunch in Kendal, then cake in Lancaster. From there our route was fast and flat to the Wyre valley.

We didn't get a puncture till 3 miles out from our destination. We've got quite skilled at changing these now.

We stayed on a picturesque little farm in the middle of the Lancashire countryside. Allotments and wild flowers all around us.
